Description	1861-1863 diary of Cyrus Bacon. In this diary, Bacon describes daily life in the Seventh Michigan Infantry. He gives vivid accounts of Yorktown, Fair Oaks, White Oak Swamp, Antietam, and Gettysburg.
Military Service Note	Bacon, Cyrus. Detroit. Entered service in Seventh Infantry, at organization, as Assistant Surgeon, Aug. 16, 1861, age 24. Commissioned Aug. 16, 1861. Mustered Aug. 22, 1861. Resigned May 6, 1862. Assistant Surgeon U.S.A., April 16, 1862. Brevet Major March 12, 1864. Died near Springfield, Ill., Sept. 1, 1868 while en route home.
