Letter from Lemuel W. Osborn to his wife Eunice, dated June 21st, 1865. Osborn expresses his loneliness and longing for home, especially in recounting his wish to have been at home for Eunice's birthday.
Military Service Note
Lemuel Osborn was born in Ohio, but sometime after 1850 he came to Michigan. On February 27, 1864, he enlisted in Company B of the 13th Michigan Infantry for a period of three years. He mustered into the service on March 1, and three weeks later he wrote his first letter home. Osborn wrote at least eleven letters from the front before mustering out at Louisville, Kentucky, on July 25, 1865. After the War he joined GAR Post 35, but died shortly thereafter.
