Commissioned Brevet Captain, U.S. Volunteers, Aug. 6, 1864, for gallant and distinguished services during the operations on Weldon R.R. Mustered out and honorably discharged near Jeffersonville, Ind., July 9, 1865. Was in the following battles: Wilderness, Spottsylvania, North Anna, Tolopotomy Creek, Bethesda Church, Petersburg, Weldon R.R., Peebles Farm and Hatcher's Run. Died Sept. 19, 1880. Buried at Fairfield, Neb. (Descriptive Roll First Michigan Volunteers).
