Portrait of Frank M. Howe and Velorus W. Bruce, 1865-1866. Howe, Frank M., Emmett. Enlisted in company C, Twentieth Infantry, Aug. 7, 1862, at Battle Creek, for 3 years, age 21. Mustered Aug. 16, 1862. Discharged July 26, 1865, at Chester, Pa., for wounds received in action before Petersburg, Va., Aug. 19, 1864. Leg amputated. Present residence, Lansing, Mich. Participated in the following engagements; Fredericksburg, Siege of Vicksburg, Siege of Knoxville, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg and Weldon railroad. (Descriptive Roll Twentieth Michigan Volunteers).
Bruce, Velorus W., Adrian. Enlisted in company A, Seventeenth Infantry, Aug. 2, 1862, at Adrian, for 3 years, age 19. Mustered Aug. 19, 1862. Wounded in action at Campbell's Station, Tenn., Nov. 16, 1863. Discharged for disability at Detroit, Mich., March 23, 1864. Amputation of right thigh, totally disabled. Present residence, Big Rapids, Mich. (Descriptive Roll Seventeenth Michigan Volunteers).
